The Wise Farmer - A Moral Story for Children
The Wise Farmer and the Bundle of Sticks
Discover the tale of a wise old farmer who teaches his quarreling sons an important lesson about unity and strength.

The Quarreling Sons

Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who had three sons. The sons were always fighting with each other, which made the farmer very sad. No matter how much he advised them to live in peace, they wouldn't listen to him.

One day, the farmer fell seriously ill. He worried about what would happen to his family after his death if his sons continued to quarrel. He decided to teach them a lesson they would never forget.

The Lesson with Sticks

The farmer called his three sons to his bedside. He gave them a bundle of sticks tied together and asked each son to break the bundle. Each son tried with all his might, but none could break the bundle of sticks.

Then the farmer untied the bundle and gave each son a single stick. "Now try to break them," he said. This time, each son could easily break his single stick.

The Wisdom Revealed

The farmer smiled and said, "My dear sons, when you are united like the bundle of sticks, no one can harm you. But if you keep fighting and remain divided like these single sticks, you will be easily broken by your enemies."

The sons understood their father's wise lesson and promised to always stay united. From that day onward, they lived together in peace and harmony.

Pearls of Wisdom

1. Why couldn't the sons break the bundle of sticks?
The bundle of sticks was strong because all the sticks were tied together. Their combined strength made them unbreakable.
2. What is the moral of the story?
